<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the allowance of cleaning performance of a cleaning blade even when polymerization toner as spherical toner having a small particle size is used. <P>SOLUTION: The cleaning device has a cleaning blade which is pressed to the surface of an image carrying body to form a contact part and to remove a toner remaining on the surface of the image carrying body, wherein the toner has ≤6.0 μm volume average particle size and ≥0.95 circularity, and an additive is externally added to the toner, with an additive having ≥80 nm particle size included by 0.5 to 2.0 wt.%. The device has a means to detect an amount of the toner depositing on the cleaning blade edge, the means placed at an upstream position of the cleaning blade in the rotation direction of the image carrying body; and has a controlling means to form a toner image on the entire surface of the image carrying body when an output value of the detecting means reaches a predetermined value or higher. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
