<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interchange merging support device whereby a driver's burden is alleviated in merging at an interchange, merging into a lane is conducted safely without a collision with a vehicle running in the lane into which the driver is to merge, and the driver can determine to give the way to a vehicle running behind in a lane into which the driver is to merge, and to merge into a space which is generated behind that vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The device detects a distance Lr to a vehicle running behind in a lane into which the vehicle is to merge, a velocity Vr of the vehicle running behind, a distance Lf to a vehicle running ahead in the lane, and a velocity Vf of the vehicle running ahead, and controls a velocity Va of the driver's vehicle 21 toward a target velocity Vtarget which is calculated from the results of the detection. The device calculates a position Px of the driver's vehicle 21 to a lane into which the driver's vehicle is to merge, and regulates an angle of the steering wheel of the driver's vehicle 21 toward a target steering wheel operating angle which is calculated from the position Px of the driver's vehicle 21. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
