DISEASE MARKER OF ALLERGIC DISEASE AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for the sure and easy diagnosis of allergic diseases including asthma and especially provide a means for contributing to the development of medicines effective for controlling the secretion of sputum and remodeling of epidermal cell.

SOLUTION: The invention provides a disease marker for allergic diseases containing a polynucleotide having a base sequence containing at least 15 consecutive bases of amphiregulin gene and/or a polynucleotide complementary to the above polynucleotide, a disease marker for allergic diseases containing an antibody recognizing amphiregulin, a method for the diagnosis of allergic diseases using the disease marker, and a method for screening a substance suppressing the expression or function of amphiregulin.
