PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide zinc alloy powder for an alkaline battery with restrained generation of hydrogen gas and little degradation of electron conductivity accompanied by a progress of discharge, capable of improving a high rate discharging property. SOLUTION: The zinc alloy powder contains at least one kind selected from aluminum, bismuth, calcium, and indium. A part of the surface of the alloy powder is covered by a metal having a standard electrode potential nobler than that of zinc, or by an alloy containing the above metal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
