PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image blur correction apparatus which prevents a failure where an image blur correction stops temporarily by reducing an amount of correction for the image blur correction when the magnitude of the vibration applied to an optical system of a camera and the like exceeds a range within which the image blur correction is made. SOLUTION: The vibration of the optical system is detected as an angular velocity signal by an angular velocity sensor 10, the angular velocity sensor is integrated by an integration processing section 20 of a CPU 18, and thereby, the angular velocity signal indicating an amount of displacement of a vibrationproof lens 30 required for negating the image blur is calculated. A gain adjusting section 22 of the CPU 18 detects the maximum amplitude value of the angular signal and when the maximum amplitude value exceeds the maximum value of a correctable range, the angular signal is subjected to gain adjustment and is so converted that the maximum amplitude value of the angular signal does not exceed the correctable range. The vibrationproof lens 30 is driven within the displaceable range by driving the vibrationproof lens 30 by the angular signal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
