PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wind measuring system adapted to a wide range of wind velocity measurement through the use of an A/D converter of a low sampling rate. SOLUTION: In the case of measuring wind velocities at a remote location through the use of the Doppler frequencies of waves of an irradiating beam reflected by the atmosphere, a plurality of directions of beam irradiation are selected from a range of directions (for example, directions 101, 103, 105, etc.) in which the Doppler frequencies of reflected waves, which vary due to the angles formed by the directions of beam irradiation and a wind direction, do not exceed a samplable frequency at a sampling rate for converting reception signals of reflected waves into digital form.
