PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clearance limit inspection device, easy to handle because of its small size and light weight, for continuously inspecting obstacles, and studying a specific improvement method therefor on the spot. SOLUTION: A horizontal side limit scale 2, a horizontal slide rail 3, and a measuring member 4 are provided on an insulated tower 1 capable of traveling on a rail R. The scale 2 has scale marks 2a for distance measurement having a clearance limit A1 as a base point. The measuring member 4 comprises a frame 7 movable along the slide rail 3, side limit gauges 8 and 9, an upper limit gauge plate 10, and a slide operation lever 11. The gauges 8 and 9 vertically extend from the frame 7 along the clearance limits A1 and A3, respectively. The gauge plate 10 has horizontal scale marks, vertical ones, and circular radial scale marks on a circular outer-edge 10a along a clearance limit A2. The gauges 8 and 9 parallel the clearance limits A1 and A3 at a position where a lower part of the operation lever 11 makes a right angle with the base point 2b of the scale marks of the scale 2.
