PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus and a controlling method thereof capable of objectively and simply selecting nearly the same cross-sections before and after stress in an examination by comparative evaluation of photograph luminosity on the same cross-sections before and under stress using, for example, an ultrasonic contrast medium. SOLUTION: In the event that images are collected for multiple cross-sections (multiple phases) by a prescribed imaging mode in an examination under stress to a subject, images of the same phase collected by the same imaging mode in an examination before stress to the subject is read, and simultaneously displayed as reference images together with current images. An operator can bring the cross-sectional position in the examination under stress corresponding to the position in the examination before stress by comparing the displayed reference images with the current images.
