PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound which has excellent effectiveness against multidrug resistant bacteria (MRSA) of Staphylococcus aureus and Penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRSP) and is useful as an active ingredient of a medicine. SOLUTION: A bacterium belonging to the genus Kineosporia is found to produce a polypeptide having excellent effectiveness against MRSA and PRSP. The compound and its salt provide new antibiotics effective against infectious diseases caused by various pathogenic bacteria including MRSA and PRSP. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
