<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cancel or effectively reduce jaggies in a contour region generated by screen processing. <P>SOLUTION: A contour processing unit 8 specifies contour pixels in image data SC to which multi-level screen processing is applied by an MLS block 6, based on a flag signal OL inputted from a contour extraction unit 4, and adjusts an output of dots in the contour pixels in accordance with the state of outputting screen dots in the contour pixels or peripheral pixels thereof.
