<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain by a simple way highly pure mucopolysaccharides (for example chondroitin sulfate) little in the content of proteins and their decomposition products and usable as raw materials for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and the like. <P>SOLUTION: An aqueous solution, which contains mucopolysaccharides containing proteins and their decomposition products and a basic substance such as sodium hydroxide and has an OH<SP>-</SP>concentration of 0.01-1 mol/L in the solution, is subjected to ultrafiltration to remove the proteins and the decomposition products as a penetrated liquid. At that time, for supplementing the portion to be lost as the penetrated liquid, an aqueous solution is used which has an OH<SP>-</SP>concentration of 0.01-1 mol/L. The aqueous solution of the mucopolysaccharides obtained by removing the proteins and the decomposition products is made neutral, if necessary, by neutralization and the like, and further by conducting alcohol precipitation the highly pure mucopolysaccharides can be recovered as a solid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
