PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free tray-type agricultural product sorting apparatus which can stably feed an empty free tray even when a special carrying passage provided for returning an empty free tray to an agricultural product feed part is eliminated. SOLUTION: An agricultural product is placed at an agricultural product feed part 2 on a free tray being circulated and carried on a transfer conveyor 1 and is evaluated, at a measuring part 3, for rating/grade and the like of the agricultural product. A plurality of free tray discharge/return devices 5 are disposed for each evaluation in the transfer direction of the transfer conveyor 1. The free tray discharge/return device 5 has a transfer passage that discharges the free tray having the corresponding evaluated agricultural product from the transfer conveyor 1 to a storage conveyor part 53, and returns the free tray, from which the agricultural product has been taken out and which thus is empty, to the transfer conveyor 1 by a return conveyor part 54.
