<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical disk driver and an optical pickup in which pickup intrinsic astigmatism data are simply provided with high reliability to the manufacturer of the optical disk driver on which the optical pickup is mounted. <P>SOLUTION: The optical disk driver is provided with a driver 20 having a control circuit 21 and an optical pickup 1 which has an aberration correcting liquid crystal element 13 and a driving circuit 2 that drives the aberration correcting liquid crystal element. The driving circuit 2 stores the astigmatism data, which are used to correct static astigmatism being intrinsic to the optical system of the pickup 1, in an astigmatism data storage section 6 and drives the aberration correcting liquid crystal element 13 based on the astigmatism data. By storing the static astigmatism data intrinsic to the pickup in the pickup, the stored astigmatism data are easily transferred to the optical disk driver side and the astigmatism is corrected by driving the aberration correcting liquid crystal element based on the astigmatism data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
