<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber drawing apparatus which adjusts operation parameters concerning operation conditions of the optical fiber drawing apparatus (the amount of variation of the target drawing speed, the target preform feed rate, the proportional gain of the amount of variation, the integral gain of the amount of variation, the computation cycle, the drawing furnace temperature, the pressure of the coating resin, the cooling helium gas flow rate, or the like) to the variation of the actual drawing speed and gradually changes the operation parameters correspondingly to the momentarily changing actual drawing speed during the operation of the optical fiber drawing apparatus, and its control program. <P>SOLUTION: The operation parameters corresponding to the actual drawing speed calculated based on the speed of rotation from the time immediately after the operation of the optical fiber drawing apparatus starts (that is, the actual drawing speed is 0 mm/min) till the speed reaches the target drawing speed are gradually memorized in the operation parameters memory unit 23 correspondingly to the actual drawing speed.
