<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve gear capable of changing valve opening characteristic of a valve element mechanically with high precision and improving degree of control freedom and control efficiency of the valve opening characteristic of the valve element. <P>SOLUTION: This variable valve gear is provided with a control shaft 24 provided with a first helical gear 34 being concentric with the axis of the shaft. It is provided with a swing cam arm provided between a cam and the valve element to transmit pressing force of the cam to the valve element. It is provided with a variable mechanism provided with a second helical gear 44 supported rotatably by a cam shaft, being concentric with the axis of the cam shaft, and forming a pair with the first helical gear 34 and changing swing operation of the swing cam arm for rotation of the cam by rotating in accordance with travel of the control shaft 24 through the first helical gear 34 and the second helical gear 44. It is provided with a rotation control actuator 70 for rotating and driving the control shaft 24 and an axial direction control actuator 78 for driving the control shaft 24 in the axial direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
