MULTICOMPONENT FIBER AND FABRIC MADE USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multicomponent fibers exhibiting extensibility, tensile properties and abrasion resistance.

SOLUTION: The multicomponent fibers are characterized in that at least one of polymer components comprises a multipolymer blend of at least two different polyolefin polymers; the polymer exists as a high melting point main continuous phase and at least one low melting point discontinuous phase dispersed therein; the high melting point main continuous phase contains propylene polymer; at least one low melting point discontinuous phase contains polyethylene polymer; the multicomponent fibers comprise at least two polymers arranged in structured domains. The multicomponent fibers can be used for nonwoven fabrics and helping products.
