PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of products using recycled parts costing much higher than products using newly purchased parts.

SOLUTION: An electronic device having the function of retaining information on a history of use of the device and component parts of the device includes a writing means for writing, during the replacement of replaceable component parts of the device and using a non-contact means, information in the component parts of the device to specify the device to be replaced; a confirmation means for confirming whether or not the information specifying the device to be replaced is written in the device when replacement parts are installed in the device; and a determining means for determining whether or not to permit installation of the replacement parts according to the information confirmed.
