<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a color filter by which the color filter can be manufactured at a low cost by a method corresponding to a small lot and having high yield without using a color resist of high material unit price. <P>SOLUTION: The color filter is manufactured by a printing process provided with a process 1 of masking a pixel part on a substitute except the pixel part where colored ink 32 is printed with a resin, a process 2 of printing colored ink and then drying and hardening and a process 3 of exfoliating the masked resin. The resin used for masking is a water-soluble resin 33 and the resin is printed by an ink jet method. Surface tension of coating solutions of the water soluble resin 33 and the colored ink 32 is smaller than surface tension (a wetting index) of the substrate 34 and is ≤5 dyn/cm.
