PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new organic EL material and a solution for an organic EL element. SOLUTION: The organic EL material consists of an anthracene compound having an anthracene structure and containing one or more groups selected from a carboxyl group, an amino group and a hydroxy group. In the organic EL element wherein one or more organic compound layers 20 are sandwiched by one pair of electrodes consisting of an anode 10 and a cathode 30, at least one layer 22, 24 or 26 of the organic compound layers 20 contains the anthracene compound. The thin film forming solution for the organic EL is also provided wherein the anthracene compound is dissolved in an organic solvent in a concentration of≥0.1 wt%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
