PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matted polyester composition causing a very small amount of attached product on a spinning cap even after long-time continuous spinning, having excellent formability, and containing 0.1-20.0 mass% inorganic fine particles; and to provide a polyester fiber. SOLUTION: The matted polyester composition containing a polyester composed of a repeating unit of at least one kind selected from the group consisting of ethylene terephthalate, trimethylene terephthalate, tetramethylene terephthalate, ethylene naphthalate, trimethylene naphthalate and tetramethylene naphthalate comprises a matting agent having≤0.1μm average particle diameter in the range of 0.1-20.0 mass% based on the mass of the polyester composition, and metal elements having≥5.0 true specific gravity in the range of 0-10 mass ppm based on the mass of the polyester composition.
