PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To freely design a constitution of an inspection stand, without being subordinate to conditions of a building for arranging an elevator. SOLUTION: In this elevator, a control device 2 for controlling operation of the elevator, is arranged in the vicinity of the lowest story floor level FL of the building in a hoistway, and the inspection stand 6 forming a scaffold when inspecting the control device 2, is directly arranged on a counterweight 1.
