PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method by which the clogging of secondary cooling water piping in continuous casting equipment is accurately detected in a simple fashion and also, the occurrence of inferior quality of a cast slab caused by the insufficient quantity of secondary cooling water can be prevented, and if necessary, the quick countermeasure can be taken against a cast slab in which the occurrence of inferior quality is predicted. SOLUTION: The continuous casting method is characterized in that, when the continuously cast slab is continuously cast while being cooled in the continuous caster with mist, the clogging of the piping is detected based on the opening degree of a flow rate adjusting valve and the cooling water quantity in each cooling system for secondary cooling water, and also, the operation is performed while changing the casting speed based on the result of the above detection.
