PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press forming apparatus which can carry out a press bending process for forming a workpiece into an almost bag shape by one press work. SOLUTION: The press forming apparatus comprises a bag shape forming portion 12 of a guide cam which has a projected forming shape corresponding to a tapered-off bag shape portion 9 to be formed in the workpiece 1, and is arranged above a rotary shaft 21 rotatably supported so as to be off-set, and a driving means 13 for turning the rotary shaft 21 provided with the bag shape forming portion 12 of the guide cam. In the press work, the bag shape forming portion 12 is positioned at a specified position for forming the bag shape portion 9 in the workpiece 1, and the tapered-off bag shape portion 9 is formed in the workpiece 1 by bringing a forming cam into contact with the bag shape forming portion 12. After the press work, the bag shape forming portion 12 is withdrawn by turning the rotary shaft 21 by means of the driving means 13 so as not to interfere with the tapered-off bag shape portion 9 of the workpiece 1.
