PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting body in which light from the surface and the end face can be obtained sufficiently and a light emitting system having the light emitting body and a light source.

SOLUTION: The light emitting system has a light emitting part in which the light transmissivity of the light emitting body 1 at the optical path length of 220 mm from the light source is 0.1% or more and 80% or less, and the ratio of luminance of the light emitting body which emits light by the light from the light source satisfies a condition of 0.5≤L10/L210≤20, when the luminance of the light emitting body 1 at 10 mm distance from the light source is made L10, and the luminance of the light emitting body 1 at the 210 mm distance from the light source is made L210.
