MONOCLONAL ANTIBODY AGAINST EB VIRUS NUCLEAR ANTIGEN-2

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for detecting an EBNA-2 (EB virus nuclear antigen), especially an EBNA-2 having a low degree of phosphorylation and detecting EB viruses regardless of the type of a virus.

SOLUTION: The monoclonal antibody to be combined with an EBNA-2 and with a polypeptide in a domain composed of a specific sequence amino acid number 1-58 or its antibody fragment is obtained. The hybridoma of FERM AP-20307 is obtained. The method for detecting an EBNA-2 or an EB virus comprises bringing the antibody or its antibody fragment into contact with a test sample and detecting the presence of formation of a complex of the antibody or its antibody fragment and an EBNA-2. The method for selecting a test sample derived from an individual suspected of infection with EB virus is provided. The kit for detecting an EBNA-2 or an EB virus contains the antibody or its antibody fragment.
