PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system advantageous for performing remote control inexpensively without providing a dedicated structure to an electronic apparatus connected with a computer excellent in versatility, and to provide a receiver. SOLUTION: When an operation key 11 is operated, an infrared signal S corresponding to an operated key 11 is emitted from a light emitting element 15 and impinges on a light receiving element 24. The light receiving element 24 creates a detection signal corresponding to the received infrared signal S and delivers it to an amplifier circuit 51. The detection signal from the amplifier circuit 51 is decoded by a decode circuit 52 and a data code is supplied through an interface circuit 53 to a computer 60 where the data code is received as control data and page feed operation of a projector 70, or the like, is carried out.
