PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique allowing an excellent sealing state to be secured. SOLUTION: This electro-optical device is provided with: a first substrate having translucency; a plurality of luminescent elements formed on one surface of the first substrate and composed such that luminescence thereof can be extracted through the first substrate; a second substrate arranged so as to face the one surface of the first substrate; a plurality of circuit chips formed at positions on the second substrate and respectively facing the luminescent elements for driving the respective luminescent elements; conductive members intervening between the first substrate and the second substrate for respectively electrically connecting the luminescent elements and the driving circuits to one another; and adsorption materials installed between the first substrate and the second substrate for every predetermined number of luminescent elements less than the total number thereof so as to surround the whole thereof for adsorbing gaseous foreign matters.
