A semiconductive conjugated polymer comprising a first repeat unit comprising general formula (I): where Ar<SUB>1</SUB>, Ar<SUB>3</SUB>, and Ar<SUB>5</SUB> are the same or different and each represent an optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl group; Ar<SUB>2</SUB> and Ar<SUB>4</SUB> are the same or different and each represent a substituted aryl or heteroaryl group; and characterised in that Ar<SUB>2</SUB> and Ar<SUB>4</SUB> sterically interact with one another so as to cause an increase in the bandgap of the polymer.
