<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system of a direct connection type interface, allowing reduction of a communication processing time by using already acquired latest equipment configuration information. <P>SOLUTION: In this printing system performing two-way communication including transfer of print data between a computer 1 and a printer 2 by use of the direct connection type communication interface 3, when a printer driver 13 outputs an inquiry command for equipment configuration information acquisition to the printer 2 and succeeds in the two-way communication, the printer driver 13 stores the latest equipment configuration information by storing equipment configuration information acquired as a communication result thereof in a storage device 14, decides whether the latest equipment configuration information is stored or not when a printing request is performed from application software 11, and advances to communication processing for outputting print requirement based on the equipment configuration information to the printer 2 without issuing the inquiry command when the equipment configuration information is stored. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
