<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder/reproducer that uses a hard disc, with which index information for enabling search at a breakpoint in the way of a program can be extracted and recorded, in addition to heading of the program. <P>SOLUTION: The recorder performing extraction and recording of index information for enabling search at a breakpoint, in the way of a program comprises a character recognition means for extracting character information being displayed on a screen from the video data of a broadcast program to be recorded and detecting a character string existing in dictionary data, by collating the character information with the dictionary data prepared previously; and a character string data position storage means for storing a character string detected by the character recognition means, and address information indicative of the recording position on a hard disc that records the video data, from which the character string has been detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
