<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing nitrogen oxides by using a compound having a high absorption characteristic of nitrogen oxides NOx. <P>SOLUTION: This method for removing nitrogen oxides NOx from a gaseous mixture containing nitrogen oxides NOx comprises the step of bringing the gaseous mixture containing nitrogen oxides NOx into contact with an absorbing material which contains the compounds shown by the formulae: CaCuO<SB>2</SB>and/or Ca<SB>0.83</SB>CuO<SB>2</SB>(the X-ray diffraction powder spectrum of CaCuO<SB>2</SB>corresponds to JCPDS card 48-197 and that of Ca<SB>0.83</SB>CuO<SB>2</SB>corresponds to JCPDS card 48-212), a mixture of the compounds or a composition containing these compounds. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
