PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film transistor array substrate in which lowering of contrast on a display screen is suppressed by preventing a channel region of a pixel TFT from being irradiated with an incident light on a TFT array substrate, and also to provide a liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: In the TFT array substrate, an auxiliary capacitor 24 equipped with a plurality of lower electrodes 2 disposed in row and column directions 15, 16 for respective pixels and connected to drain regions 7b of respective corresponding pixel TFTs, is disposed on the lower side of the pixel TFT. Distances L1 and L2 between a separation region 3a, formed between the lower electrodes 2 adjacent to each other in the row direction 15, and channel regions 7c of two pixel TFTs corresponding to the lower electrodes 2 are made to be nearly equal to each other. At the same time, distances L3 and L4 between a separation region 3b, formed between the lower electrodes 2 adjacent to each other in the column direction 16, and channel regions 7c of two pixel TFTs corresponding to the lower electrodes 2 are made to be nearly equal to each other.
