发明名称 Improvements in or relating to electric signal repeater circuits
摘要
1,090,374. Repeater fault finding. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 24, 1965 [July 1, 1964], No. 27165/64. Heading H4R. In a repeater including separate amplifiers for each direction of transmission a switching circuit is arranged, on operation by a control signal from one terminal station to interconnect the output of the "go" amplifier to the input of the " return " amplifier and to disconnect the normal input to the return amplifier so that signals from that terminal station have their direction of transmission reversed at that repeater and are returned to that terminal station so that the performance of the individual repeaters may be checked. Two embodiments are described. Fig. 2 shows one embodiment in which p.c.m. signals in one direction of transmission are fed to an amplifier, represented by box 1, via terminals 2, the output being fed to the line for onward transmission via terminals 4. P.o.m. signals in the other direction of transmission are applied via terminals 16 to amplifying stages 8, 9, and 10 and then via terminals 17 to the line for onward transmission. The control signal for testing purposes comprises bursts of pulses, each burst comprising alternate positive and negative going pulses of equal height at the p.r.f. of the system, with the bursts having an audio repetition frequency characteristic of the particular repeater it is desired to control. The control signal is transmitted over the system in the normal way and is amplified by amplifier 1 where the pulses are full wave rectified by diodes 39, passed through the L.P. filter, and applied via winding 34 to a transformer tuned to the burst repetition frequency characteristic of that repeater. Signals appropriate to this repeater are selected, by tuned circuit 35, amplified by transistor 37 and provide, via rectifier 43, a bias to turn on transistor 25 to complete a path from the output transformer 5 of " go " amplifier 1 to the input transformer of "return" amplifier 8, 9, 10. Turning on of transistor 25 also back-biases the normally conductive diode 18 and so isolates the input of amplifying state 8 from the transformer 7, and therefore from the incoming line. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 1 (not shown), the control signal is applied as an audio signal to the phantom circuit of the " go " and " return " lines, which circuit also provides the power supply to the repeaters, and the control signal is fed to the tuned amplifier by connecting the input winding, e.g. 34 in Fig. 2, in series with the phantom circuit.
