<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device authentication system and its method on a home network. <P>SOLUTION: This system is provided with a service device providing service content according to control by a control device, a home server setting a network to respective devices according to authentication information for the respective devices, a permission server having information about a service permission in compliance with characteristics of the respective control devices, and the control devices performing network authentication via the home server and receiving provision of the service content from the service device according to permission/nonpermission to the required service content.
