摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a solid polymer fuel cell from being frozen. <P>SOLUTION: A cell stack 10 of a first fuel cell system 1 is contained in a casing 14, with its periphery surrounded by a regenerative hygroscopic heating element 15. A second fuel cell system 2 equipped wit a direct-methanol type fuel cell 21 is made attachable and detachable to and from the first fuel cell system 1. When the cell stack 10 is expected to get frozen based on a detection value of a temperature sensor 17, a controller 25 starts up the direct methanol type fuel cell 21, and supplies wet air containing product water accompanying power generation from a steam supply device 23 to an inside of the casing 14. The regenerative hygroscopic heating element 15 absorbs steam supplied from the steam supply device 23 to radiate heat and keep the cell stack 10 warm. A dryer 50 supplies dried air to the inside of the casing 14, and regenerate the regenerative hygroscopic heating element 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
