<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter capable of easily occluding a blood vessel and using a thinner sheath introducer because of its smaller diameter when a balloon is contracted. <P>SOLUTION: The balloon catheter comprises a shaft 2, a balloon-like balloon 1 that is deformed to be screw-like and mounted on an tip part of the shaft 2, and a two-way stopcock 5 connected to a hub 3 on the proximal end of the shaft 2 through a connecting tube 4.
