PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a photographic object information retrieval system allowing an operator to acquire photographic object information at high speed with high retrieval accuracy on a site of photography using a portable information terminal having a digital camera function. SOLUTION: Pre-photography retrieval information that is metadata of a text format is generated on the basis of past retrieval hit history information 52 and environment information in a half-depressing state of a shutter button 21, candidate photographic object information 51 is acquired from the photographic object information 101 by use of the pre-photography retrieval information in a photographic object information retrieval server 70, and the portable information terminal 10 decides the photographic object information of a photographic object photographed by use of the candidate photographic object information 51. Thereby, the portable information terminal 10 can acquire the candidate photographic object information 51 in an early stage, and decides the photographic object information from the candidate photographic object information 51 on the photographing site to realize the acquisition of the photographic object information with high accuracy.
