PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cleaning performance of a cleaning member for a translucent dustproof member, which closes an opening which is formed in a housing and where a light beam passes through, in an optical writing apparatus with an optical member housed in the dustproof housing. SOLUTION: The optical writing apparatus has a cleaning tool 40 and a plurality of guide parts 45 (45a, 45b and 45c) which guide the cleaning tool 40 along the translucent dustproof member 37. A projected part 48 is provided on the back face 40a of the cleaning tool 40; and a clearance (a) is generated between the backface 40a of the cleaning tool 40 and the guide part 45 on the upstream side, by butting the projected part 48 against the guide part 45c on the downstream side, when the end part of the cleaning tool 40 on the side of the cleaning member 41 passes the guide part 45b on the upstream side, accompanying the slidable movement of the cleaning tool 40 along the translucent dustproof member 37, while making the end part opposite to the cleaning member 41 of the cleaning tool 40 a leading part.
