PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slot, for an optical fiber cable, that reduces polarization mode dispersion (PMD) without lowering mechanical strength, and also to provide the optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: While a slot groove 11 is twistedly provided in the longitudinal direction on the surface of a cylindrical slot rod 13, the slot groove 11 is longitudinally varied in the depth, so that longitudinal variation is given to the radius of curvature of an optical fiber core wire 21 to be housed in the slot groove 11.
