PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum brake suppressing the slip down and slip up of brake shoes by a simple structure. SOLUTION: This drum brake 10 comprises: a disk-shaped backing plate 12 fixed to the non-rotating portion of a vehicle; the pair of circular arc-shaped brake shoes 14 and 16 brought into slidable contact with the inner peripheral surface of a rotating drum fixed to a wheel rotating approximately coaxially with the backing plate 12 to generate a braking force; a wheel cylinder 18 pressing the brake shoes 14 and 16 against the rotating drum; and an anchor 20 receiving a brake reaction when the brake shoes 14 and 16 generates the braking force. The backing plate 12 comprises a plurality of recessed parts 34, and a shoe rim 24 comprises projection-shaped projected parts 36 engaged with the recessed parts 34. The brake shoes 14 and 16 are supported by the engagement of the shoe rim 24 with the recessed parts 34 formed in the backing plate 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
