<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for measuring time interval comprising a striking mechanism for generating an acoustic signal in an operation of start, stop or reset. <P>SOLUTION: In a column gear 10 journaled to a plate, a ratchet gear 14 and a column 16 are formed integrally, and the ratchet gear 14 is rotated in one step clock direction by a lever hook 18 for driving in the operation of start, stop or reset.
