PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an individual authentication apparatus and individual authentication method capable of securing high safety. SOLUTION: The individual authentication apparatus 100 for authenticating a user is provided with a puzzle question presentation apparatus 103 which presents a puzzle question and an authentication part in which when an answer to the puzzle is correct and a time spent for answering is within a preset limited time, the user is authenticated.
