PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blast furnace bottom thermometer installing method which is capable of measuring the temperature of a brick surface of a side wall of the blast furnace bottom with high accuracy, and installed at low cost. SOLUTION: In this method, a blast furnace bottom thermometer 9 to measure the blast furnace bottom temperature whose surface is covered by a metallic sheath part is inserted in an opening part 6 formed inwardly from a side wall of the blast furnace bottom, a temperature measurement unit 1 at the tip of the blast furnace bottom thermometer is tightly fitted to a surface of a brick 5 of the side wall of the blast furnace bottom, and a monolithic refractory 12 is filled in the opening part. A part other than the temperature measurement unit of the metallic sheath part is fixed to the monolithic refractory. In order to fix the metallic sheath part to the monolithic refractory, for example, a thermometer fixing tool 14 extending in the direction substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the blast furnace bottom thermometer may be mounted on a part other than the temperature measurement unit of the metallic sheath part.
