PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which is a polyphenylene ether resin composition capable of uniformly exhibiting excellent properties such as the heat resistance, impact resistance, tensile properties and the like of a molded article at all times. SOLUTION: The polyphenylene ether resin composition is obtained by melt kneading a polyphenylene ether (A) having a constituting unit represented by formula (1) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group having a total of 1-20 carbon atoms) and a copolymer (B) having a functional group reactive with the polyphenylene ether, and the component (A) is a continuous phase, and polymer fine particles having an average particle diameter of 5-50 nm are present in the domain dispersed in the continuous phase, and the volume of the polymer fine particles is≥2% of the domain volume.
