PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer ceramic capacitor which can suppress growth of barium titanium crystalline grains (BCTZ crystalline grains) even when a dielectric layer is made of a dielectric ceramic containing, as main crystalline grains, the BCTZ crystalline grains having part of an A site substituted for Ca and having part of a B site substituted for Zr, and BT crystalline grains; and which can improve a relative permittivity, a temperature characteristic, and a high-temperature load test characteristic even in mass production using a tunnel type large-scale baking furnace; and also to provide a method for manufacturing the ceramic capacitor. SOLUTION: In the multilayer ceramic capacitor comprising a capacitor body 1 made of a dielectric layer 5 an internal electrode layer 7 alternately laminated, barium titanium crystalline grains having different Ca and Zr component concentrations are used as main crystalline grains 9. The barium titanium crystalline grains contain Mg, rare earth element, and Mn. When the dielectric layer contains a total of an A mole of Ba or Ba and Ca and a total of a B mole of Ti or Ti and Zr, the dielectric layer satisfies a relation, A/B≥1.003 in mole ratio.
