<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the visibility and durability on a strength of a tread for stairs. <P>SOLUTION: A tread for stairs has a horizontal groove 8 formed along the upper-side front edge 6 of the tread 3 for the stairs and vertical holes 12 being downward extended from both ends of the horizontal groove 8 and reaching the rear 5 of the tread. The vertical holes 12 are composed of inclined holes 13 outward inclined and extended from both ends of the horizontal groove 8 and the vertical holes 15 in the vertical direction continued to the inclined holes 13. LEDs (light sources) 20 are fitted into the vertical holes 15 while rod-shaped illuminants 18 having a flexibility are inserted into the vertical holes 15 on the LEDs 20 and the horizontal groove 8, and lights from the LEDs 20 are projected from a tread surface 4 through the tread rear face 5 and the illuminants 18. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
