<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus whose size can be further reduced and with which an image of satisfactory image quality can be ensured. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a belt-like photoreceptor 10; charging means 20a to 20d for charging the belt-like photoreceptor 10; an exposure means 30 for forming electrostatic latent images on the belt-like photoreceptor 10; developing means 40a to 40d for forming toner images by developing the electrostatic latent images with toner; and a transfer means 50 for transferring the toner images to a transfer body P from the belt-like photoreceptor 10. A control unit 90 having at least either a control means 91 for controlling an electrophotographic process including charging, exposure, development and transfer for image formation or a power source 92 electrically connected to the control means 91 is disposed in an inner peripheral of the belt-like photoreceptor 10.
