PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin having gas barrier characteristics, a curable barrier coating composition using the above resin, a package material and/or a container containing the above barrier coating (this barrier coating reduces the permeability of gases such as carbon dioxide and/or oxygen through the package material). SOLUTION: The barrier coating contains the reaction product of a polyamine (A) and a polyepoxide (B). The above polyamine (A) is a non-gelling reaction product of the following components: (I) an initial polyamine with carbon atoms, 50% of which belong to an aromatic group; and (II) at least one selected from following (a)-(d), (a) epichlorohydrin, (b) a polyepoxide, (c) a novolac epoxy resin or a bisphenol F epoxy resin and (d) formaldehyde and phenol.
