A paper-cutting machine comprises a saddle 1 rotatable about an axis 2 by means of a rockable lever 6 one end 8 of which bears on a cam disc 5 while the other end 9 bears, by means of an adjusting screw 10, on a rib 11 of the saddle. A spring 12 has one end bearing against the rib 11 and the other end bearing against the saddle housing 4. The cam disc has two regions 13, 14, Fig. 3, of varying curvature and a region 15 of constant curvature which, when engaged by the end 8 of the lever 6, causes a switching element 17 to operate a limit switch 18 thereby stopping the motor 16 driving the cam disc so that the saddle is aligned parallel to the cutting knife. The cam disc has secured to the axis thereof a screw 19 which holds one end of a cable 20 which is guided over pulleys (21 to 25), Fig. 1 (not shown), while the other end of the cable is held by a spring (27) to an optical measuring device (29) which carries an indicating mark (32) in the region of a glass plate (31) to indicate the angular position of the saddle. The angular position of the saddle can be adjusted automatically by photo-electric elements which scan printed marks on the material to be cut and control a drive to the cam disc until the marks are in alignment with the scanning elements.</p> |
