An orthopaedic implant (10) for the treatment of avascular necrosis of the bone includes a hollow support structure (14) and a synthetic vascular graft (16). The support structure (14) defines a passageway (24) and includes a proximal opening and a distal opening. The synthetic vascular graft (16) is received, at least in part, within the passageway (24) such that a proximal end portion of the synthetic vascular graft (16) is received through the proximal opening of the support structure (14) and a distal end portion of the synthetic vascular graft (16) is received through the distal opening of the support structure (14).
